The premise: Honest and profound, simple and pure, the Million Dollar Baby is a masterpiece. It relates the tale of Maggie, a young hillbilly who aspires to be a boxer and Frankie, an elderly fight trainer. A former boxer who is close friends with Frankie serves as the narrator of the movie.

The best movie to be considered in 2004, Million Dollar Baby is purely a boxer-related movie. The boxing fight scenes are filmed excellently. Even the toughest soul might be moved to tears by the father-daughter bond that forms between Frankie and Maggie

The premise: In the movie, Micky Ward is a budding welterweight boxer who fears that his controlling mother, Alice, and his half-brother, Dale may ruin his career before it even gets started. Dale was a potential competitor before he developed a crack addiction.

Micky Ward is a young boxer who aspires to be as successful as his more famous, but troubled, older brother. He tries to do this by stepping out from under his brother's shadow. The Fighter follows the lead character's improbable journey to the world welterweight boxing championship.

The premise: Adonis travels to Philadelphia, the scene of Apollo Creed's illustrious fight with a difficult underdog by the name of Rocky Balboa. Rocky is sought out by Adonis, who begs him to coach him.

Rocky, despite his insistence that he has retired from fighting, recognizes in Adonis the strength and tenacity he had observed in Apollo, the tough foe who eventually became his closest friend. Rocky agrees to teach the young fighter while also facing a foe that is far more lethal than any he has faced in the ring.
